about

“Tomorrow Will Offer Fresh Narratives grew out of my frustration with the musical fashion of 'retro-futurism' and what it often termed hauntology and with it the underlying political sense that the neoliberal era 'flattens out time', it's like our society has made it impossible for us to imagine anything but a continuation of the present whilst the culture recycles and fetishises the past. I've felt for a few years that the UK musical hauntology scene has become increasingly conservative and stuck in its own repeating loop. Last summer I read an article on the term 'anti-hauntology' and it spured me to attempt to create a new body of music, something hopeful which 'still believes in the music of the future'.

I really pushed myself with some of the sounds here, a lot of these tracks started by improvising/jamming on my 'daw', playing the beats and synths on the fly for 10-15 minutes and recording the results. I took promising sections and began to edit these into arrangements. It was my intention to create what I hope was experimental, yet tuneful and a blending of genres resulting in something with a fresh narrative from the other music I've created, its not for me to say if that has been a success or not but even failure at such an attempt has helped move my music making forward” - Neil Stringfellow
